Al Keith IV

Alfred Keith IV is the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Milwaukee College Prep (MCP), a high-performing K4–8 charter school network in Milwaukee dedicated to the relentless pursuit of excellence through love and learning. A strategic and deeply caring educational leader, Al believes that a top-tier education is every child’s birthright. His leadership is grounded in an unwavering commitment to educational equity and a conviction that all children—regardless of race, neighborhood, or socioeconomic background—can and want to learn when adults create the conditions for them to thrive.

Since assuming the CEO role in July 2023, Al has led MCP through a period of accelerated growth and strengthened performance. Under his leadership, all four campuses earned 4-star or higher ratings on the Wisconsin DPI Report Card following the 2024–25 school year, including the Lola Rowe (North Avenue) Campus, which achieved a 5-star “Significantly Exceeds Expectations” rating. During this same period, scholar attendance rose to a network average above 95 percent, reflecting both strong operational systems and a school culture grounded in belonging and care. He also introduced quarterly staff engagement surveys and restructured the network’s leadership model to further empower principals and elevate instructional coaching as a primary driver of scholar success.

Prior to becoming CEO, Al served as Principal of MCP’s Lloyd Street Campus, where he led a transformative academic and cultural turnaround. In just one year, the campus moved from Meeting Expectations (3 stars) to Exceeding Expectations (4 stars) on the Wisconsin DPI Report Card, alongside substantial gains in scholar achievement, staff performance, and school climate. Earlier in his career, he served as an Academic Dean and Math Teacher, overseeing curriculum, coaching, and data-driven instruction while helping double the percentage of scholars achieving Advanced or Proficient scores on state assessments. Al is equally committed to developing people alongside systems. He co-developed MCP’s Emerging Leaders Program, which has supported more than 20 aspiring leaders, with over half advancing into leadership roles across the network. He regularly presents on instructional leadership and innovation and is widely recognized for his systems thinking, strategic focus, and belief that celebrating individual growth—of both scholars and adults—is essential to sustained excellence.

His leadership has been recognized at the state and national levels. Al is a Greenhouse E3 Fellow and a Burke Foundation Fellow and was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus of Silver Lake College. He began his teaching career in the Manitowoc Public School District and holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration. Licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as both a Principal and Director of Instruction, Al leads with a simple and resolute philosophy: when adults lead with love, learning follows.
